I think Manila (about 11 million people) is one of the nicest BIG cities I have been in. I felt really save here and the people here were pretty friendly for such a big city. Traveling around in this big city is not a problem either. Hundreds of jeepneys, tricycles, taxi's and buses drive around here and most people speak English. Finding the right jeepney might be a problem the first time, but we got used about that after a short while.
One of the high lights we saw in Manila was the Chinese cemetary. It is unbelievable that on such a large scale people are honoured in such a way. A complete (luxurious) village is build for hundreds of dead Chinese people. In marmer houses (villa's !!), complete with airco, fridge (for visitors) and other furniture, people are burried here. Very fascinating.
An absolute must is to visit the Chinese cemetary in the the
suburb of Santa Cruz. |
